How to crop a photo

  1. Choose a photo. Tap Choose a photo, drag one onto the frame, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl/⌘+V.
  2. Pick a shape. Use the film strip: a plain ratio like 4:5, or a platform preset that also sets the exact pixel size.
  3. Frame it. Drag inside the frame to move it and drag the corners to resize. Arrow keys nudge it. Turn and straighten under Rotate & flip.
  4. Download. Crop & download saves the file straight away, named with its size so you can find it later.

Why platforms cut your photos

Every platform has a frame of its own. When your photo’s shape doesn’t match, the app either trims it for you, adds bars, or squashes it. Pick two shapes below and see how much each approach costs.

Your photo
The frame it must fill
3:2 photo → 4:5 frame: 47% of the photo is cut off. The faded area is what a platform trims when it "fills" the frame, which is why picking the crop yourself matters.

That is the whole reason a cropper beats letting the app decide: you choose which part of the picture gets trimmed. That deliberate choice is also what ahaboo is built around: explainers you can move and adjust to see how something actually works.

Questions

Is CropMaster really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no limits beyond 50 images per batch.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Cropping, rotating, resizing and zipping all run in your browser. The optional alt-text writer sends a small 512 px preview of your crop, and only after you press Write.

Which file types can I crop?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame), AVIF and BMP in every modern browser; HEIC/HEIF iPhone photos open in Safari. Save as JPG, PNG or WebP.

Will cropping lower the quality?

Cropping only removes pixels; what remains is untouched. JPG and WebP are re-compressed when saved, so keep quality at 90 or above, or pick PNG for lossless output. You will see a warning if a preset would enlarge a small crop.

How do I crop an image to an exact size?

Pick a preset (such as Instagram portrait, 1080 × 1350) or type any width and height under Output. The crop frame locks to that shape and the download is exactly that many pixels.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Drag the frame with a finger; the corner handles are sized for touch. Downloads go to your Photos or Files app, depending on your phone.
